Unexplained infertility is more and more common. Interestingly enough the statistics have been in the last few years, 25 to 30 percent of women have a diagnosis of unexplained infertility and yet I just read an article recently that said the numbers are up to 50 percent of women that are being diagnosed with infertility have unexplained infertility.
You know I have a host of opinions around that. I think a big part of that is our lifestyle and stress and we're moving through life in through that fight or flight part of the nervous system and so our bodies don't get …

Every Profile member's journey is unique to them; our members come from all walks of life. Although you may recognize that very fact, it's in human nature to compare yourself to others. It's natural for us to see the greener grass on the "other side" when you look at online forums, have conversations with your friends and family members, and take the time to reflect on how things used to be. It’s natural to fixate on how far you have to go on your journey, instead of taking the time to reflect on how far you’ve come.

>> Profile's Senior Learning and Development Specialist Natalie Papini highlights the importance of our thoughts and how what we think plays into our Profile journey.
In my last blog, we talked about re-thinking the concept of failure. Along with redefining failure, it can be useful to examine how the things we think help and/or hurt us on our journey. How often do you perceive a thought you have as the be-all-end-all truth? It can be difficult to get into the habit of challenging your thoughts and your perception of truth, but in actuality, your thoughts are simply ideas. They are merely perceptions …

Scoliosis diagnosed before the age of 10 is often considered “early-onset scoliosis.” The youngest cases, those diagnosed before the age of 3, are subcategorized into infantile scoliosis.
When scoliosis is diagnosed at birth of before the age of three, it’s very possible that the curvature will correct all by itself, without any treatment. The majority of infantile scoliosis cases will resolve by the age of three, although some may persist later into childhood. However, it’s important to understand that those cases which do not get better stand a very high chance of progressing to severe levels and causing problems in adulthood.
Unlike …
This section discusses juvenile early-onset scoliosis, which is considered to occur in individuals between the ages of 3 and 10.
Juvenile idiopathic scoliosis has many features that make it unique. The incidence of juvenile scoliosis is roughly equal between the ages of 3 and 6, and then starts to be seen more often in females after that, much like adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. It is distinct from both infantile and adolescent scoliosis, in that not as many cases resolve spontaneously as with infantile, and cases of juvenile early-onset scoliosis tend to have a greater chance of progressing compared to adolescent cases. Scoliosis …
While we often think of scoliosis as a disease that affects adolescents, recent studies have begun to explore the prevalence and effects of scoliosis in adults. While the rate of scoliosis in adolescents is commonly estimated around 2 to 4 percent, studies looking for scoliosis in adults have found rates between 12 and 20 percent. One study, looking at healthy adults over the age of 60, detected scoliosis in 68%. It’s clear that the rate of scoliosis actually increases with age.
Scoliosis in adults can be separated into two distinct groups:
Adult idiopathic scoliosis
Adult degenerative (or de novo) scoliosis
Adult idiopathic scoliosis is a case …
Although we tend to think of scoliosis as something that occurs in adolescents, that is only because it is when we typically look for it and diagnose it. When we look for it in other age groups, we find that scoliosis in the elderly is quite common. One studyfound scoliosis to be present in 68% of healthy individuals over the age of 65 with no low back pain. If this study had included individuals with low back pain, the incidence of scoliosis might have been even higher.
Cases of scoliosis in the elderly typically arise due to one of three reasons. First, …
Q: "Yoga Therapy" is different from yoga. And a lot of people don't even know that there is such a thing as yoga therapy, or yoga therapists. Can you share your personal story and what made you decide to pursue yoga therapy and become a yoga therapist?
A: I had been teaching yoga, and I was dealing with some chronic pain issues, and I had come to the conclusion that my yoga practice was aggravating my condition. So, I wanted to understand that on a deeper level and also find ways to heal myself! I found the practice of Soma Yoga, which really changed my entire …
Difference between working with a yoga teacher and a yoga therapist. Karen shares her personal story and how she found Wendy Brom, Yoga Therapist and Somatics expert
Wendy Brom: Karen, so we're going to come into the back-lift movement, which is really effective in releasing muscle tension in the entire back line of our body. This is the go-to movement for any kind of back pain, because we're not going to shine a light on a single focused area here. We're going to be working with the entire pattern.
When you're ready Karen you can draw this right shoulder blade down toward the left hip, so we're kind of moving at a diagonal. And then you'll lift that arm and head up with that, and then lift the left …
In this video, Adaptive Yoga and Movement specialist Wendy Brom is showing Karen (her client) some back and shoulder movements to help with Shoulder and back pain.
Wendy Brom: So Karen, now we're going to practice with the movement of the shoulder blade sliding down, at a diagonal, down the back body. So this movement allows us to get into these lower trap trapezius muscles.
So again lots of people suffering from a lot of shoulder pain, we do carry a lot of tension back here. So we are going to help Karen get rid of that tension. That's the movement, just so that …
