Life is great when your spirits are high; what are some foods to help support a good mood?

Salmon.  Salmon and other fish like sardines, cod, tuna, and halibut are high in Omega 3 fatty acids.  These healthy fats keep your brain working well, and have been shown to alleviate depression.  Eating salmon or other fish twice a week will supply the needed healthy fat.

Nuts.  Nuts are sources of healthy fats, and they have high levels of tryptophan.  Tryptophan is required to produce serotonin, a substance that the brain needs for a happy and calm mood.  Just eat a small amount (1/8 cup) of nuts daily for a healthy snack!  Raw walnuts, almonds, and pecans are perfect choices.

Cherries.  Cherries are high in both tryptophan and melatonin.  Melatonin can help you fall asleep and wake rested.  Try a half a cup of tart, unsweetened cherry juice before bed for restful sleep and happy day.

Enjoy!
